SHAREWARE: This program is being distributed under the shareware
concept. In other words, if you find this program to be
enjoyable and keep it as a part of your software library
you are expected to send $8.00 to me at the address given
below. This insures that my kids will eat and my wife
will finish her college education.
You are encouraged to share a copy with a friend, upload
it to your favorite bulletin board, etc. That's helps me
distribute the program and receive more income!

MUGGINS
Muggins is a domino game in which you as the human player battle
it out with Mugsy, an accomplished computer opponent. The
object of the game is to earn 500 points by 1) adding dominoes
to the two chains so that both ends add up to a multiple of
five, and 2) playing all the dominoes in your rack to win the
round, get a bonus, and receive the point value of your
opponent's remaining dominoes.
THE PLAY
Each game of Muggins consists of three to six rounds. Each
round begins with each player receiving seven random dominoes.
The double blank is placed on the board and is the beginning
point or anchor for the right and left chains.
You make the first move of the first game. Your seven dominoes
be displayed in the upper right hand corner. If none of your
dominoes contain a blank you will be sent to the "boneyard" or
pile to draw until you find one. Next you will need to high-
light the domino you wish to play. Using the four arrow keys
place the blinking red box over your choice and enter. If you
make an invalid choice the computer will give you a raspberry.
You will then need to try again.
At this point "R" and "L" arrows will alternately appear next
to the double blank. This means the domino you have chosen can
be placed on both the right and left chains. Make your choice
with the "R" and "L" keys.
The computer will now add the last number found on each of the
two chains to arrive at a total. If that total is a multiple
of five (5,10,15,20,25 or 30) you will receive that many points.
If a domino at the end of a chain is a "double", (a domino in
which both numbers appearing on the face is the same), both
numbers are added. For example, if one chain ends with a one
and the other chain ends with a double seven then the total
would be 15. If one chain ends with a double six and the other
with a double nine then the total would be 30. The total will
always appear in a blue box inside the double blank.
Play alternates back and forth as more dominoes are added to
the right and left chains. In order to have a domino added to
a chain, one of the two numbers on the new domino must match
the last number on that chain. For example, if the last number
on a chain is four then you could add a 1:4, 4:4 or 8:4, but
not a 1:3 or 5:6.
When a players uses all the dominoes in his rack then he is
declared the winner of the round. That person receives a 25
point bonus. The winner also adds to his score all the point
values found on his opponent's dominoes rounded to the nearest
multiple of five.
There will be times when both players will have dominoes left
in their racks, but none can be placed onto the two chains. In
this case the game is effectively blocked. Each opponent then
adds up the point values found on their remaining dominoes. The
winner of the round is the player with the lower point total.
Although there is no 25 point bonus to be awarded, the winner
still receives the opponent's domino total rounded to the
nearest multiple of five. If both domino totals are the same
then there is no winner and neither player receives any points.
At this point the board is cleared and a new round begins.
The game continues until one of the players reaches or exceeds
500 points. At this point you will be asked whether you want to
play again or quit. Respond with "Y" or "N". You can also quit
in the middle of a game by hitting the [Esc] key whenever it is
your turn to select a domino. Confirm with a "Y" or "N".

I hope you'll have fun playing Muggins. I have written the
program in such a way that you will lose 50% of the time, thus
presenting a good challenge. (I don't know about you but I
despise computer games that you can easily beat 99% of the time)
I also believe children will enjoy playing the game as well.
It helps them with their math without their knowledge! (Watch
out parents! If your children beat the computer and you don't,
you will never hear the end of it!)
Again, if you use the program and keep it as a part of your
software library, please send me the $8.00. That's cheap!!!
